What is the Schengen 90/180 rule?
Non-EU visitors can stay up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across all Schengen Area countries (27 countries as of 2026). Exceed it = overstay = potential ban.
Which countries count?
27 Schengen countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland. Ireland is EU but NOT Schengen.
How is "180 days" counted?
Rolling — looking backwards from any given date. On Jan 1, your 180-day window is July 5 prior year → Jan 1. On Feb 1, window is Aug 5 → Feb 1. Total Schengen days in any such window can't exceed 90.
Entry + exit day both count?
Yes — both count as days in Schengen. A 3-day trip (arrive Mon, leave Wed) = 3 days used.
What if I overstay?
Fine + possible entry ban 1-5 years. Even 1-day overstays can trigger scrutiny at border. This tool is advisory — always verify with the border authority directly for official compliance.
