Dilution formula
C1 × V1 = C2 × V2. Concentration × volume is preserved. Moles in = moles out, just at lower concentration.
Practical example
Dilute 10 M stock to 2 M in 50 mL final: V1 = (C2 × V2) / C1 = (2 × 50) / 10 = 10 mL stock + 40 mL water.
